Getting started

Registration

Open the registration page, enter your email and password and confirm the address via the link in the email. Then create your first button (widget) in the dashboard. On first registration you get a one‑month trial with full access, then you choose a plan — including the free one.

Smartbtn partner programme

Bring new customers to Smartbtn and get 35% of their payments. Payouts are monthly, to a bank account; the minimum income is ₹5,000. Only legal entities can participate. Details and the agreement template are on the partners page.

What is Smartbtn

One button on your site that combines live chat, messengers and social networks (WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger, Apple Messages, Viber, plus regional channels like VK, Avito, MAX and CIAN), callback, price list, directions, quizzes, an AI assistant, tickets and analytics. Operators answer everything from one window — in the dashboard, the web version or the mobile app. All features.

Adding channels

WhatsApp

Connected via the official WhatsApp Business Cloud API in “Connections” → WhatsApp: one number for conversations and template mailings, about 10 minutes to set up. New connections via Twilio are closed; existing Twilio numbers keep working. Step‑by‑step guide.

Telegram

Create a bot with @BotFather using the /newbot command, copy the token and enter the bot username and token in “Channels” → Telegram. Step‑by‑step guide.

Live chat

The site chat is part of the widget. Copy the installation code from the widget settings and add it to every page of the site (usually before the closing tag) — WordPress and other CMS. Design, texts, language, skins and icons are changed in the widget settings — no re‑installation needed.

Viber

Viber bots are now created only on commercial terms (via Viber or its partner). Enter the bot URI and token (app key) in “Channels” → Viber. Step‑by‑step guide.

VK

Create a community access key, paste it with the community link or ID and click “Connect” — the Callback API is configured automatically. Step‑by‑step guide.

Avito

Add an account in “Channels” → Avito and authorise Smartbtn in Avito; you can connect several accounts. Step‑by‑step guide.

MAX

Create a bot on business.max.ru (a verified organisation, sole proprietor or self‑employed profile is required), copy its token and enter the nickname and token in “Channels” → MAX. Step‑by‑step guide.

Working with dialogs

Quick reply templates

Save typical answers as quick phrases. In the dialog window choose a phrase — the text is inserted into the reply field and can be edited before sending. Templates are shared by the team, so answers stay consistent. Via API: /v1/quick‑phrases.

Operators

Inviting an operator

In the “Team” section send an invitation to the operator’s email — they will receive a link and set a password themselves. On the paid plans (Team, Business, Enterprise) the number of operators is unlimited, the first three for the price of one.

Editing an operator profile

The main operator can change an operator’s name, photo and department. The name is shown to customers in the chat, so use a real name.

Deleting an operator

Delete the operator in the “Team” section. Before that, pass their open dialogs to colleagues; the conversation history stays in the account.

Profile

Editing the main operator profile

The main operator is the account owner: they manage widget settings, channels, operators, payment and API tokens. The profile holds the name, photo and contact details.

Changing email

Enter the new address in the profile and confirm it via the link in the email. Until confirmed, the old address keeps working.

Changing password

Change the password in the “Profile” section. The widget on the site does not depend on the password — the installation code keeps working.

Statistics

Operator statistics

For each operator: working time, response speed, closed and in‑progress requests, customer ratings. Overall: request chart (accepted / missed) and request sources by channel. More.

Automatic actions

Reply templates

Automatic replies are templates sent without an operator, e.g. a greeting or a message outside working hours. More complex scenarios are handled by the chatbot and the AI assistant, which answers from your knowledge base and hands the dialog to a person when needed.

API

Using the widget JS API

The public object window.smartbtn_widget_api lets your site open and close the chat, send a message on the visitor’s behalf, pass visitor data to the operator and subscribe to the onOpen, onClose and onMessageSent events. Data methods work when “Allow widget API (JS and REST)” is on and only from the widget’s site domain.

smartbtn_widget_api.setContactInfo(info)

Sets the visitor’s contact details. The operator sees them as if the visitor had entered them in the intro form. Contact data has a separate method because the customer’s name, phone and email play a special role in Smartbtn — the customer can enter them at the start of the dialog.

});

smartbtn_widget_api.setCustomData(fields)

Passes any additional customer information to the operator. It is shown in the info panel on the right in the operator app. The method can be called any number of times — if the dialog is already open, the data in the operator app updates in real time. Fields are shown in the order of the array.

Developer API (for developers)

REST API /api/v1 lets your systems read and manage chats, contacts, operators, tags, files and statistics and receive webhooks. Each request is tied to one widget and authorised with a bearer token. Issue a token in the dashboard, “API tokens” section: name, expiry (optional) and scopes. The token is shown once.

curl -H "Authorization: Bearer <token>" https://<host>/api/v1/chats

// → { "data": [...], "next_cursor": "..." | null }

Full documentation: scopes, endpoints, webhooks, changelog.

AI

AI assistant

Answers customers 24/7 from your knowledge base (site, documents, rules), speaks several languages and hands the dialog to an operator when needed. You can create several assistants with different roles. More.

Your own AI by API key (Claude, ChatGPT, DeepSeek…)

Connect your provider key: Claude, ChatGPT / OpenAI, DeepSeek, Gemini, Mistral, OpenRouter, Groq, regional LLMs or any OpenAI‑compatible one, and choose a model. The key is connected separately and only with the owner’s permission; model costs are billed by the provider’s rates. More.

AI that learns by itself

The assistant analyses dialogs and operator answers, finds weak replies and improves itself. Every change is a new persona version with rollback; there is a change log and a kill switch. More.

Ready solutions (marketplace)

Ready assistant templates for a niche — coffee shop, clinic, shop, car service, agency and others. Choose by category and language and apply in one click. More.
